The basis of Yoga is mindfulness. That’s why we always start our classes with breathwork and meditation, taking time to connect with our bodies, setting an intention for the practice and making it all about self-transformation and connection to the true self within.
In Western society, most of us, are producing too much cortisol, the stress hormone. A little boost of this hormone is necessary however if cortisol levels are elevated for an extended period it can lead to different health problems like chronic inflammation, high blood pressure, weight gain, sleep problems, lower immunity etc. Prolonged cortisol exposure has been linked to depression, anxiety, heart problems and diabetes.
Practicing yoga & breathwork will:
- Reduce or eliminate muscle and body aches
- Get comfortable with your body and learn its capacity
- Notice and let go of judgments about yourself and your body
- Understand your mind and body connection, move through mental blocks & heal
